There really is no reason for this good-natured feast provided by the Professors to the students. It’s just a nice and happy gesture than almost every student is happy about. And not only is there good food in about half an hour from the start of the feast the tables will be moved to the side and made room for a dance. Don’t be shy! Just have fun!

The hall was noisy as always when Lessien and Draco entered for lunch. "See you afterwards?" She asked her boyfriend quietly.
With a curt nod he walked over to the Slytherin table and sat between Goyle and Crabbe.
Shaking her head resolutely Lessien walked to the Gryffindor table before taking her own seat, "When are they ever going to have a table for the classes to intermix I wonder?"

Nessa laughed as she reached over to snag a cookie. “A good question indeed.” She said. She had already been sitting when Lessien came in but shrugged after her comment. “No worries, these tables will be moved soon enough and you can be all over each other on the dance floor.”

"Well there's no rule in the rule book that says you cannot intermix at these tables," Telery came walking up from the Ravenclaw table and stood besides her two Gryffindor friends. "They should have feasts like this more often, I haven't been this exited about an evening meal since the Yule Ball." A big smile played round her mouth, which she hadn't been able to suppress all evening.

"You know what you're right," Lessien slapped the seat next to her, "Why don't you join us and we can talk more about the Yule Ball?"

Lessien snickered, "Yes it was...do you remember Snape's expression when Hagrid walked in with Madame Maxime? Now that was priceless." The girls laughed at the memory. "Does any one know if we're going to have any balls this year?"

"Probably." Nessa said with a shrug. Lessien and Telery looked at her curiously and she only took another bite of her cookie. "I heard the professors talk about it any way." She finished.

"We'll all have to go dress shopping together." She smiled, "I think I should wear something to shock everyone....maybe we can visit the shop and see what they have so we know what to save up for?" Nudging Nessa her smile grew, "And then maybe some of us can ask certain guys to this 'maybe' ball."

"When is the next one?" Gemma asked from her seat. She sat alone, staring at a drawing in a book she'd gotten from the library. There was a gap between her and Lessien on the bench. She looked up, knowing she'd intervened into their conversation, but she had to know. She'd missed the Yule Ball last year, so she was looking forward to this one: with all the boys, dancing, and "mishappens" that could occur, she definitely wanted to be apart of it.

When Elin walked into the Great Hall, the first thing she noticed was the wonderful decorations. The candles had all been replaced by little fairies that flew about in all sorts of colours. In the corners there were branches with golden red and green leaves and sunflowers. You could tell quite well that it was an end of summer feast. Meanwhile Elin was trying to find Telery in the crowd. She scanned the Ravenclaw table but couldn't see her there. Looking further she was a bit surprised to find her at the Gryffindor table with two girls, Lessien and Nessa. Making her way through the crowd she saw that a third girl joined the conversation, a gryffindor called Gemma.
"Hey there!", she said cheerfully,"What are you talking about?"

"Were talking about possible balls this year Elin and I don't know when yet Gemma, but I'll tell you as soon as we do. Maybe you both could come with us when we go looking for gowns." Lessien grinned at the house interaction as several other Gryffindors watched them curiously.

Gemma smirked. "You were saying something 'shocking', were you not, Lessien?"
"Yes, I think I'd like to give the professors a good surprise." Lessien noted.
Gemma laughed. It was a melodious laugh, comfortable and warm. "Well, I have the right idea I think you'd like. Instead of a simple ball gown, or even an electric blue or something normal like that," Her eyes twinkled. "Why not go in costume?"
Nessa and Telery looked at each other with mischeif.
"You mean, like a Halloween costume?" Elin asked. "Muggles do that, don't they?"
"Well, yes," Gemma said. "But I mean, it would be 'shocking'." She winked at that, and then took a bite of a green apple and turned the page in her book.

Nessa grateful the topic of boys had dropped smiled and laughed all too pleased with the idea. She had done the Halloween thing every year with her brothers. Whether it was going trick-or-treating, or causing a few tricks at the neighbors.
“I love the idea.” Nessa said. “We will definitely have to look into it.” She thought a moment. “Maybe we could find a way to squeeze some info out of one of the know it alls.” She suggested. “A professor or prefect. They always know.”

"Highly doubtful a professor would be useful," Gemma informed. "All of them like to play the 'it's a surprise' trick. Unless it's McGonogall, she's proved to be really helpful to me. Besides, a lot of them don't like to spill the goods to students, especially those they don't like." At this, Gemma sent an amazing dagger of a glare at Snape.
