Hmm, favourite authors, that's hard. I like quite a few books, but I think I'll only list the once of whom I have read several books and still love them even more! - JRR Tolkien: Because his mind was simply so brilliant when creating Middle Earth. I can't say he is my number one fav though, because I still haven't managed to wrestle myself through the Silmarillion.
- JK Rowling: Need I say more?
- Diana Gabaldon: Her Outlander series is brilliant, it doesn't matter how large these books get, I'll have finished them in a matter weeks (think 1300 page books with small [print and large pages). And what's even better, after 6 books in the series there's still no ending in sight and even a couple of prequels are promised!
- John Marsden: Tomorrow when the war began are such great youth books. You can't help but put yourself in the shoes of the character.
- Christopher Paolini: Such a young author, such great books. My generation rules (he's 20 or 21).

Well, I'm gonna look like such a copy cat, coz all the writers that I would call my fav authors (though I'm kinda against the idea, since I like so many different books and authors) have been mentioned already: - JRR Tolkien: Duh
- JK Rowling: once more Duh
- Jane Austen: though some call her books uneventful, I just love the British middle class Victorian life style (and Mr. Darcy)
- John Mars den: His 'Tomorrow when the war began' series is to dye for, it took me a really long time and quite some difficulty to get it in English, but it was definitely worth it, even though I had already read them in Dutch
- Marrion Zimmer Bradly: Her series about Avalon and heathen England is amazing
- Christopher Paolini: it took me a while to get over my small prejudice (OK a story about humans elves, dwarfs and dragons: hello someone copied Tolkien or something) but I was so wrong, its amazing, and I can't wait for the third part.

I'll add a few to the list, cause there are a lot there and I don't want to sound like a copycat either.
R. A. Salvatore: Wrote the Drizzt series and spread some light onto the drow. Although he's not the only dark elf author in existance, he's the only one I've read so far. His Cleric Quintet is awesome as well.
Anne McCaffrey: Though I'm sure I spelled that wrong, she is a wonderful author.
Leigh Greenwood: Another I'm sure I spelled wrong. >.< But she right brilliant romance books. lmao Who'd've thought, me liking romance novels.
And there are plenty of non-published authors I am a fan of.
