I can't believe that we didn't have a Harry Potter book thread yet, but then again, maybe we've been through it all. BUT I might have something new to say. When I finished part six I was distraught, I couldn't believe that Dumbledore died. Then Jen pointed me to the Dumbledoreisnotdead site and I read through it in once, and must admit that I was convinced by them. I think a part of me just wanted to believe that she could not kill of Dumbledore. But Jen yesterday send me a synopsis of an interview with J.K. Rowling and once again I was shocked to the core. I'll post that she send me. - There's more to Aunt Petunia than meets the eye, and we'll find out what's unique about her in Book 7.
- Don't expect Dumbledore to pull a Gandalf.
- Dumbledore IS really dead. "Everyone needs to move through the five stages of grief" and get past his death.
- Author Salman Rushdie, along with his son, came to ask, after a detailed theory, if Snape is good or bad. Jo replied that "your opinion was correct." Rushdie's opinion, unfortunately, was hard to follow.
- While Jo is listing the characters who she'd invite to dinner, she names the trio but then pauses. The crowd begins to shout out other characters, but Jo responds, "I'm the only one who knows who lives through the series," accidentally implying that she could only list characters who make it through the final book. Her final two choices (after realizing what she said) were Dumbledore and Hagrid.
Jen got this information of Mugglenet.Am I the only one who was sort of convinced that Dumbledore was not dead? And what about that last part, would that mean that Hagrid will die as well? Or is that just me making to much of it?

Well (obviously), I was also quite convinced by the theories that were revealed to me by dumbledoreisnotdead.com. I was completely sure that they were right: because how on earth could the great and mighty Dumbledore be dead? So this news shocked me quite a bit aswell.
However, although you could extract Hagrid's death from that quote, I don't think she will kill him off. I'm not completely sure though, because she already killed off two beloved characters( Sirius and Dumbledore), but Hagrid is JK's favourite character out of the books, she has made no secret out of this. But she has also said that two major characters will die in book 7, one of which she didn't intend to kill off. But I have no idea who this will be. Perhaps Malfoy? Or one of the Weasleys? I don't know...

I believe Dumblerdore really is dead. Even those who are great will fall, considering there is war going on; and of course, in war, people will die. J.K Rowling may, or may not kill Hagrid, we're not too sure. Even though she says Hagrid is her favorite, there's still a chance. But so far my highest belief that it's going to be Ron who will be killed. He continues to recieve messages from the tea leaves saying something about dying. :/

If you interpret her little slip in my way, Ron, Harry and Hermione will survive. But maybe that's just me again, believing what I want to believe.
Next to the two deaths in the seventh book, you have the horcruxes. I'd like to hear other views on what the horcruxes are. Does anyone think Harry is a Horcrux?

I guess so. :/ But we'll just have to wait to find out. X3;
Anyway, I'm honestly a little torn about Harry being a Horcrux. On one hand, Voldemort is trying to kill Harry; destroying the boy would mean destroying a part of his own soul.
On the other hand, a murder has to be committed in order to create a Horcrux, and there was murder: Harry's mother. And it's possible, because of the prophecy that could lead to his own destruction, Voldemort will still be trying to kill Harry, even if it means destroying part of his own soul; but isn't bothered by that, considering he still has other Horcruxes around. It's possible that Harry is an accidental Horcrux, if not, then obvious. How else would Harry be telepathically linked with Voldemort? ^^;

I know that he could be a horcux, but I don't think I can handle him dying in the end, after all he went through.
I wonder how the seventh book will be, if Harry and Ron and Hermione aren't going to Hogwarts.

I think that there is a good possibility that Harry is an accidental horcrux, though it's hard to tell as long as we don't know how the process of creating a horcrux works. It would explain a lot of things though, like Himei said. Not only the telepathic link, but also the resemblance and the confusion of the sorting hat.
I wouldn't want Harry to be one though, because I would either have to die, or undergo some horrible extraction process (the horcrux that Dumbledore found didn't have to be completely destroyed after all..). I really don't know, but I hope JK won't kill Harry off. I suspect that she might be able to though, after Dumbledore and some of the things what she said (that Harry might not get old, etc..).
I really wonder what book 7 will be like. It surely won't have the skeleton of the previous books (you know, Dursleys, Weasleys, event, Hogwarts, event, end of schoolyear), and it has to give a lot of answers and explanations. Even though she said that it wouldn't be longer than OOTP, it wouldn't surprise me if it ended up that way (longer than OOTP).

That would be so great, I love hp long, so I con enjoy it even better (and longer).
I don't think it will be the typical HP either, though I do think it will start at the Dursleys, because of what Dumbledore said, as long Harry can call Privet Drive a sort of home, nobody, even Voldemort, can find him there. So I think he'll be there, even if it's only for a very short time.

I think it will start off at the Dursleys, it's the only place where Harry is sure to be safe. I hope she won't kill Harry off either, but we can't trust anything, even the slip she may have done. J.K Rowling is a smart woman, I doubt she'd give away anything that easily, she may be trying to throw us off our guard. >.>;;;

That would be immensly cruel. I wonder how long it'll take before the book is finished.

It would be...But you never know...I mean, there's a chance. From what I've read, Rowling writes close to realism. >_> I read somewhere that it was going to be out by June '07. For the first time in my life, I can't wait 'till June hits. That's how bad I wanna read.

You don't like June? It's the beginning of summer. But you are right, I can't wait till June comes, if that's when book 7 comes.
