Gemma looked to Lessien and said, "Less, catch!" She threw the charm and Lessien caught it expertly.
Liam's dog ran by Gemma, barking as they all sprinted through the forest. She glanced down at him, and looked a bit longer...was that...
"Blood?" Her face fell a shade paler.
When they reached the edge of the forest, Hagrid looked around gasping for breath. "Everyone in the house, now!"
They all filed into the hut and Hagrid slammed the door and locked it and the back door. Liam seemed to jump up into his human form, and staggered backward.
"Liam?" Pippa took his arm gently, and he snatched it away, hissing in a breath.
"What's wrong, then?" Hagrid asked, putting on a pot to boil some water for tea. Pippa and Gemma stood on either side of Garron, trying to see what Liam was hiding.
Gemma cleared her voice and asked, "Liam where are you hurt?"
Hagrid stepped up, gently shoving Garron and Pippa aside. "Now, me boy, turn 'bout so I can see."
Liam turned and held out his arm. From above his wrist all along his forearm and leading up underneath his elbow was a long scratch, blood seeping deep into his black sweater.
Gemma gasped, eyes wide. "Oh my-"
"Someone get a towel from the cabinet over there," Hagrid barked. "And the pitcher on the shelf by the fire place-Pip bring that chair over here."
Pippa scooted a chair from the table around, and Liam sat down gently, face strained with pain but he didn't say a word or utter a sound. Gemma found the towel and dipped it into the water that was warming. Nessa found the pitcher of herbs and both brought it over.
"I think there's some needle and thread in the drawer over there," Hagrid said as he pressed the towel to Liam's forearm. Liam focused hard, but still made no move or flinch. "I won't be able to do it though-me 'ands are too big."
"I'll do it." Gemma croaked, finding the box Hagrid was talking about. Her hands shook when she handled the box to bring out the needle, and began finding some thread to sew up the wound.
"Until you get to Madame Pomfrey." Hagrid assured.
"He already has some scratches." Gemma whispered in a shaky voice.
Hagrid raised an eyebrow, and Garron tilted his head. "Really? How?"
However Liam bit his lip, the long wound preventing him from speech. Gemma worked faster with the needle.
Pippa sat down, turning away. My friend, she thought desperately.

Nessa stared a moment desperately and nodded her head. “I dreamt it, I have to go with you.” She said. Lessien nodded her head.
“All right.” They looked longingly at Hagrid’s hut but turned away and began their journey into the woods again. This time, they were much more prepared spells already in their minds, now that they knew what to expect. But nothing, not even the experience in Nessa’s dream could prepare them for what happened next.
Nessa stopped Lessien following suit. She watched as Nessa looked back towards Hagrid’s hut, but her eyes did not rest on it. It was just like in the dream- time seemed to stop. Nessa grabbed Lessien’s hand and yelled “RUN!”
Their breathing was staggered; they almost tripped over numerous times. They went deeper and deeper and though they grew tired the thing chasing after them hurried on.
“We have to stop and face it!” Lessien shouted. Nessa nodded her head and dug her heels into the ground.
“We had to get it away from the hut.” Nessa told her. Understanding Lessien nodded her head and took out her wand.
“Are you ready?” She asked looking at her.
“Never. But I am here, this is now, and we will do what we can.” She said. Lessien took in a deep breath with her and the two stared as what pursued them stopped. It laughed- almost a cackle but much lower. The girls cringed. It took out a wand rotting and decaying.
They shouted spells, they were not sure what they were it was just whatever they first thought of. He counter attacked and Nessa felt a cold pain hit her in the chest. How did she get so close to it? She wondered as she felt his fingers wrap tightly around her neck. They were like sharp knives digging into her skin. She wanted to scream, but all her air supply was being cut off. She opened her eyes and saw him running towards them changing into something she recognized but could not think of. And then it all went black.
Lessien stared as Aiden came running towards them. His chest was bear, his feet were bear, his eyes looked wild and part of Nessa’s robe was wrapped around his upper arm! But the most amazing part of all was when he changed into the white wolf that had saved them from the werewolf.
“Aiden!” Lessien screamed. She watched completely stunned as he bit into the things throat causing him to drop Nessa who was out cold. She had to do something!

"Oh my God, what do I do?" She started to run forward when her necklace flew out in front of her face, "Draco! Yes....ummm, he said all I had to do was hold it and think of him and he'd see where I was and that I needed him. Merlin he'd better be right." Grasping the charm in the fist not holding her wand she thought of Draco and pictured the evil being in front of her. Hurry Draco. Please hurry. Running forward while Aiden in wolf form distracted the being she grabbed frantically at Nessa's hands. Desperately she tried to drag her body but with her out cold she was a dead weight. "C'mon Nessa, wake up and help me." She urged as she pulled as hard as she could. Her friend remained unconscious as she pulled and suddenly she saw something white fly over her head. "Aiden!" Feeling something eyeing her she slowly looked up only to look into the dead eyes of this evil thing. Frantically she searched the ground for her wand while keeping her eyes locked on the dead one's. Merlin, where is Draco?
It raised it's wand on the two unarmed girls menacingly and made a hoarse noise probably supposed to be a laugh.
"Cat got your tongue?" Lessien snarked.
"You're about to be in the most pain of your little life and you're being sarcastic? Hmmm...you're either stupid or sure of yourself."
"Thought I was foolish?" Smirking she held up the wand she found and pointed it at the being, "Now who or what are you?"
"Like you're going to stop me with that. Accio wand!"
The wand in her grasp flew into bony fingers and she paled wishing Nessa would wake up or for Draco to show. "I'm not completely powerless."
"This I know. I was only planning to take her power," It pointed to Nessa, "but with both of yours I could do soooo much more."

Nessa’s eyes slowly fluttered opened, but Lessien was too distracted to notice. The thing she had dubbed death had two wands pointing at them. Where was hers she wondered. She slowly searched herself until she felt it; she slowly pulled it out praying not to bring any attention to herself. She could hear the thing muttering a spell- she hoped she could be faster.
Lessien watched as everything happened at once. The spell death said flew towards them, but the white wolf was up and suddenly blocking them from it using his body as a shield. At the same time Nessa was directing a spell at it and Draco doing the same from behind.
It screeched as his specific spell for two girls became almost entirely useless, though the wolf would be in agony for a period of time it did him no good. He looked around seeing Draco and growled then stared defiantly at Nessa who stood though she struggled. Lessien held her arm helping her. His spell was up and the wolf was lying limp on the ground. It stood still, Draco and Nessa still forcing their spells until suddenly and unexpectedly it disappeared dropping Lessien’s wand where he used to be.
Nessa collapsed Lessien struggling to keep her from falling too hard. Draco ran over to them his face pale and sick looking. Nessa looked down at the wolf and cried out.
“Oh Lessien!” She put a hand on his white fur and gathered his barely breathing body close to her. “Since when did we get a stubborn animal as a protector?” She asked tears swarming into her eyes. Lessien was in no way prepared to tell her it was Aiden. It was silent for a moment as she struggled on what to do until Nessa looked up at her. “Wait- Aiden. I saw him here. Where-“ She was never able to finish for the soft fur she felt turned into blood stained skin. She looked down and the tears she felt fell from her eyes. “Aiden!” She gathered him closer and sobbed into him. “Aiden no… no, no, no.”

Lessien felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up into Draco's eyes her own glistening with tears, "How do we help him?"
"We could do a healing charm but I don't know if I have enough power alone to have it do much good," he replied slowly as he knelt down to take her into his arms.
Turning in his embrace she hugged him tightly with a relieved smile, "That's it! You're a genious Draco!" She kissed him exhuberantly before breaking away and looking at Nessa, "We can do it. Ness we can heal him."
Slowly Nessa looked up at Lessien with tears streaming down her face, "You think?"
"Ness that thing thought we were so powerful it wanted our powers. I think we need to at least try." Her smile faded slightly as she looked down at Aiden, "For him we have to try. He saved us."
"I know." She let out a choked sob, "I can't lose him. Not now."
"Not ever Ness. I know." Lessien gave Draco a meaningful look, "I know exactly what you mean."

“So what do we do?” She asked staring into his expressionless face. She could not believe this was happening. “What do we do?” Her fingers grazed over his face as she wished for him to wake up. She let her thumb run daringly over his bottom lip and she felt her heart sink horribly low. Don't leave me...

"Everything we can think of I guess." Lessien slowly seperated from Draco's warm arms and helped Nessa to ease away from Aiden. Pointing her wand at him she conjured up bandages and a splint, "Ferula." Glancing at Draco she watched him draw his own wand and she gently pushed it down, "You need to save your strength in case you have apparate to get help."
"I won't leave you." He frowned, "I won't."
"You may have to if we can't help him." Reaching for Nessa's empty hand she pointed her wand again, "Help me Nessa come on." When her friend stared blankly she squeezed her hand, "It's alright Ness, as long as I can channel you it should work the same."
For what seemed like hours they worked as many healing charms on the fallen man that they could think of until Lessien thought he was ready.
"We're going to try to wake him up now alright?" She was worried about her friend. Ever since she had to seperate her from Aiden it seemed as if she was almost catatonic. Blinking back tears at the situation she opened her mouth, "Ennervate." As Aiden's eyelids appeared to flutter she hugged Nessa carefully, "I think we've done it Ness. Come on."
Instead of letting her friend help her, Nessa flung herself to the ground next to Aiden and touched his face. Was it real? Was he really alright?? When she saw his lovely eyes lock onto hers she started to cry softly in relief and shock. "Aiden?"

So it was clear that the needle and thread wasn't going to work, surprisingly enough-however, they were going to patch it up and leave the rest to Pomfrey. "Oh God." Gemma whimpered, looking at the long bleeding scratch and cleaned it off. "You'll never loose this one."
"Every good man has a good scar," Hagrid assured, trying to lighten the mood, although it was serious.
"Hagrid they have plenty," Pippa said quickly.
Liam grinned. "Stocking up."
She taped down the thick bandage and made sure it would stay then did something she was waiting to do all night. As fast as a flash of lighting, Gemma reached out and smacked Liam O'Hara across the face. Liam looked surprised beyond belief.
"Don't you ever do something like that again!"
Garron rolled on the couch laughing. "Awkward..."

“Hey there.” He replied weakly as he tried a smile. How she wanted to hold him and kiss him, and also beat him at the same time. But there was no way she was going to do any of them. She was too afraid of hurting him to hold him, to afraid of him to kiss him, and there was no way she was going to cause him more pain!
“What were you thinking!” She asked trying to sound angry, he could see the strain on her face, she was trying to be mad at him, but he could only see relief in her expression.
“Saving the damsel… again.” He said smiling.
“Stop making jokes you imp.” She said sniffing.
“Now why are you crying?” He asked frowning.
“Don’t bother with that right now.” Lessien said. “We still have a bunch of werewolves surrounding us.” She told them.
“That’s all right.” Aiden started but when he tried to get up he twitched, made a face and laid back down. He frowned when he found Nessa staring down at him seriously but found comfort when he felt her hand pressing against his chest. She had no intention of making him get up any time soon. He put a hand over hers and sighed. “OK, so maybe it was not as all right as I thought.” He looked at Lessien and Draco turning very serious.
“Get her out of here.” He told them.
“What?!” She was angry this time, whom did he think he was trying to push her out of the forest. “I don’t think so.” She told him.
“I don’t want you to get hurt.” He told her.
“I don’t care about getting hurt. I am not leaving you here alone like this.”
“Draco, make her listen.” Aiden said. Draco shrugged.
“I only know how to manage one woman, and I can barely handle her already.” Nessa stood.
“You two go back for Hagrid.” She said quickly tying her hair back out of her face. She took out her wand and snatched Aiden’s out his pocket.
“What are you doing?” He asked. But she was not listening any more to any one.
“Lessien and Draco, go back and get Hagrid- now!”
“Nessa we cannot leave you out here alone with Aiden hurt and-“
“We will be fine.” Nessa told her. “You just worry about getting Hagrid.” She held the wands tightly in her hands and gave a reassuring nod. “We will be fine. I promise.”
“Come on Less.” Draco took her hand and began dragging her away.
“But we can’t just leave them here!” Lessien said trying to pull away. Draco turned to her and kissed her gently then looked at her softly while cupping her face with his hands.
“I know you care about them Less. But Nessa is a big girl; she knows what she is doing. There is no way she would let anything happen when Aiden is the way he is. She is way to loyal to do that.” He said. “And right now she needs you and me to get Hagrid.”
“Why can’t one of us go and the other stay?" She asked. He smiled at her.
“Because she wants us to protect each other.” He told her. “Now lets go.” So reluctantly she let Draco pull her along back to Hagrid’s leaving Nessa and Aiden alone.

As they quickly made ground towards Hagrid's hut Lessien shivered at the thought of her friend all alone back there. Several times she stopped in her tracks to head back, but Draco was there to stop her. "Wait Draco, we can't..." She spoke quickly, "There's too many of them."
"We have to."
"Apparate," she stopped when he shook his head, "Why not? You could apparate there and back and...I could go back and help."
"I am not leaving you here by yourself." He grabbed her by the shoulders, "Nessa can take care of the werewolves. She's a good witch and she knows what she's doing. We must focus on getting back before anything else finds us." He was startled when she gasped and went even whiter than before.
"Dr...Draco..." She stared behind him, "What is...that?
He turned around and looked everywhere frantically, "Where?"
"You're joking right? It's...there." She pointed right in the middle of the path, "Right there Draco!"
"Less, there's nothing there," looking back at her he frantically began examining her face and head.
She slapped his hands away, "What are you doing?"
"Did you get hit on the head or something?" He frowned when she gave him a Are you stupid? look, "I can't see anything there and a head wound would explain things."
"Well guess what Draco I still see it and I didn't get hit in the head as far as I know," she remarked smartly.
"I still can't see it Less."
"How can you miss it? It's big, black, and freaky looking." She frowned thinking, "It has wings too. I think I know what it is."
"I think I do too. Less, have you seen..." But she was walking away at a hurried pace trying to avoid the creature and pretending she didn't hear him speaking. "Lessien!" Catching up with her he grabbed her arm to stop her, "Stop for a minute. You can see Thestrals?" He caressed her face softly, "You never said anything." He wiped away the lone tear falling from her eye as it trailed down her cheek.
"That's because I can't remember. I saw her die and I can't remember it." She let out a choked sob and grabbed onto him. Taking a breath she tried to push him away, "We need to hurry and get Hagrid."
"I'm not letting you go right now. Talk to me."
She shook her head, "I can't. Not right now. We have to hurry or we won't make it. We are too far away to stop now."
"You weren't in a hurry to leave earlier." He remarked looking around he wondered, "Is it still here?"
"Yes," she whispered. "It's over there." She motioned with a nod of her head where the creature was and looked Draco in the eyes, "Why?"
"Because I'm wondering if it would give us a ride so we can talk about this."
"We don't have time to talk about it now." Her body started to shake slightly, "We...we can't ride it."
"Lessien you know as well as I do how fast they are." Worried for her he drew her closer, "It could get us to the hut and back quicker than walked. Probably even faster than our brooms. Less, we should at least try."

“Nessa, I want you to give me my wand and run.” Aiden said quietly as he watched her head swerve around to look at the approaching shadows.
“I am not leaving you.” She told him looking at him with determination. He loved her for it, he admired her for it, but he did not want her to get hurt because of it! He sat up wincing at the pain and began to get up. Nessa gasped. “Aiden no!” She ran to him and wrapped her arms around him gently, they paused as he took in a sharp breath and she continued to hold him. “Aiden lay back down.” She pleaded. He looked down at her and moved a loose strand of dark hair out of her face.
“I do not want you getting hurt.” He said quietly.
“Aiden… If you really want me to go, I will.” She lied. “But please, don’t make me leave you. It would hurt me more than a werewolf ever could.” They were quiet for a long time and then she found that it was her being held not her holding him. She savored it for as long as she could. She felt so safe in his arms her head resting delicately against his smooth chest. Her left hand rested between her and him and her right hand rested just by his bandaged wound. Softly she ran her finger along side it and she felt him shiver against her touch.
“Give me my wand.” He said gently. She handed it to him and looked up at him waiting for him to tell her what he wanted her to do. Still standing he took her hand and began to limp towards Hagrid’s hut where Lessien and Draco went.
“What are we doing?” Nessa asked. It did not matter really; she would follow him into the fieriest depths of hell if he chose too take her there.
“We are going to get as far as we can towards Hagrid’s so it will be faster for them to get to us. And when the werewolves come-“ He drew her closer in a protective gesture and sighed. “We will fight them together.”

"Why won't you just apparate Draco?" Lessien bit out feeling herself start to shake. I'm becoming hysterical. She told herself as Draco continued to stare at her.
"You know why," He replied softly. He could feel his eyes become wet as the image of a much younger Lessien tormented at the sight of her mother's death. "How much did you see?"
She shook her head as she fell to her knees, "I can...I can't remember any of it, but they tell me it's possible I saw her being mur...murdered." Her body began shaking but she paid it no heed. "I don't want to ride it. It is said that if you ride one, you remember death. I don't want to remember it. I don't want to see her die."
"Less..."
"No Draco! I can't. I won't. Just apparate or run with me, but I'm not riding it."
"Not even to help your friends?"
Quickly standing she turned away from him, "You know I'd do anything for Nessa." Wiping the tears from her face she turned to look him in the eye, "Just as I would for you. And you know it."
"Yes. That is why we must try. The werewolves will be upon us soon if we don't get out of here. There is more than the ones that were back there. Those and other monsters."

It was slow and Aiden cursed at himself in his mind for slowing her down. But she was attentive and careful and helped him with incredible patience. She did not show the fear he knew she felt. Werewolves were not her favorite creatures, though she did not seem to mind him when he was just a wolf.
They stopped both tightening their grasps on their wands when they heard the very close howls. Aiden took himself off of Nessa who insisted he lean on her and looked around.
“Are they close?” She asked. He nodded his head.
“We can still cover more ground though.” He told her. He looked down at her face and found her smiling.
“Aiden Chekhov even if the werewolves were already upon us we could still cover ground. All we would have to do is retreat towards Hagrid’s as we fight.” He smiled and took her hand gently in his.
“Your right. Lets go…”
